Pediatric Hospitals

If your child’s pediatrician chooses to utilize the hospitalist services, a pediatric hospitalist will manage and direct your child’s care while they’re here, providing around-the-clock expert care. Our pediatric hospitalists will see your child each and every day that they are here with us, giving your child the attention they deserve.

Your pediatrician still plays an important role in caring for your child while they are hospitalized. Your pediatrician receives regular updates regarding your child’s plan of care and their progress, and when they are discharged, a pediatric hospitalist transitions your child’s medical care back to your pediatrician.

Pediatric emergency room

Time is precious and the last place you want to be is in an ER. But sometimes things happen – especially with children. When your child needs medical attention, we offer the pediatric expertise they require in a warm and caring environment.

The Henrico Doctors’ Hospital Pediatric ER provides a wide array of sophisticated testing and imaging technologies on-site. Our facility also features the latest in technology and imaging services including CT, X-ray, fluoroscopy and ultrasound testing.

Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU)

Our PICU enables us to give critically ill children, or those requiring close observation, the specialized care their condition requires. A team of pediatric intensivist physicians supervises the care of our PICU patients. These pediatric intensivists are available for referral 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Like our pediatric hospitalists, the pediatric intensivists will update your pediatrician on your child’s care and progress.
